carbon content of 904L is very low (maximum 0.020%), so in the case of general heat treatment and welding, there will be no carbide precipitation. This eliminates the risk of intergranular corrosion occurring after general heat treatment and welding. Due to the high chromium-nickel-molybdenum content and the addition of copper, the 904L stainless steel tube can be passivated even in a reducing environment such as sulfuric acid and formic acid. The high nickel content also results in a lower corrosion rate in the active state.

In 0-98% of the concentration range of pure sulfuric acid, 904L of the use of temperature can be as high as 40 ℃. In 0 ~ 85% concentration range of pure phosphoric acid, its corrosion resistance is very good. Impurities have a strong effect on corrosion resistance in industrial phosphoric acid produced by the wet process. In all phosphoric acid, 904L stainless steel pipe corrosion resistance is better than ordinary stainless steel tube. In strong oxidizing nitric acid, the corrosion resistance is lower than that of the high alloyed steel containing no molybdenum.
